The Ivy Cafe, Marylebone

What’s The Deal?
A gorgeous all-day cafe just off Marylebone High Street and one of the latest recent expansions from The Ivy Collection.

The Food
The British Brasserie menu includes plenty of classics from the original Ivy as well as some new additions and is broad enough that there should be something for everyone here. The dishes aren’t super modern or complicated, but the quality is high and you know what you’re getting.

For starters, we had the Prawn Cocktail and Melon & Tomato Salad (special of the day), both were super fresh and perfect when it was such a hot day outside!

Mains were the Steak Sandwich with French Dip (basically a nice sub style sandwich with pouring gravy on the side – a great addition) and Crab Linguini which looked particularly impressive with the crab claws when it came out. We had Fries on the side (obviously) and a nice tomato salad. Although the tomatoes on their own were delicious, I felt like this was a bit basic and could have been jazzed up with a bit of red onion. Overall though the food is usually really consistent here, as you would expect from The Ivy.

We couldn’t pass up desserts at this leisurely weekend lunch (could I ever?!) and the dessert menu at all of the Ivy locations is really strong in my opinion. Ever a chocolate-fiend, it HAD to be the Warm Flourless Chocolate Cake served with creme fraiche & raspberries and an Aperol Spritz. The cake was DIVINE, coming out at the perfect temperature and the raspberries added a nice kick. Highly recommended & probably my favourite course.

Vibes
This area of Marylebone is absolutely gorgeous with a village-y type feel and The Ivy Cafe fits in perfectly with the cosy but classy surroundings. We went for a late lunch with family at the weekend. It felt like the perfect spot for a relaxing meal and the service wasn’t rushed at all. There is definitely a Made In Chelsea type vibe going on (!) but for me that wasn’t a problem as the quality of the food and surroundings is great.

Budget or Bust?
££ – We spent around £60 ish for two for lunch, with three courses and drinks. I think this is reasonable for the area & quality of the food and I would definitely visit again, if only for the chocolate cake!
