Sea Containers, Mondrian Hotel

What’s The Deal?
A riverside restaurant focusing on classic British & American cuisine, set within the stunning Mondrian London Hotel, with interior design by the iconic Tom Dixon.

The Food
As a table of four, we opted to order a mixture of dishes and share them all. This strategy works well at Sea Containers as they have a variety of small and large plates for sharing. To start it had to be the impressive Sea Food platter (pic below) with oysters, crab, ceviche, scallops & shrimps. I’m not personally an oyster fan but the rest of the platter was delicious and very fresh. The Crab on Toast is one of Sea Containers’ signature dishes so I’d definitely recommend this as well.

From the small plates section of the menu, we had the Burrata with Heirloom tomatoes (always a hit) and Oven-Roasted Lamb Meatballs (pic below) which were delicious. The Chorizo Flatbread with egg and rocket (pic below) was also great to share and we couldn’t resist some of the Triple Cooked Chips (a must with any sharing meal in my book). Some of the larger meat-based sharing plates also looked amazing that we saw coming out of the kitchen and I’ll be trying these next time for sure!

We just about managed to save room for dessert to share which had to be the Chocolate Lava Cake with vanilla ice cream for me. This wasn’t the best chocolate fondant I’ve had but was still pretty good and you can’t go too far wrong here.

Vibes
If the Sex & The City were in London, Carrie & her crew would be drinking Cosmos in here without a doubt. It was buzzy and pretty much packed out when we visited on a weekday evening so make sure to reserve a table. If the weather is good enough, the large sliding doors will likely be open leading straight out onto the river with unmissable views. Blankets and heat lamps still keep things cosy for those outdoors.

Budget or Bust?
£££ – The Sex & The City gals don’t come cheap and neither does Sea Containers (if you have as many cocktails as we did that is). We spent around £80 each for dinner and drinks, with cocktails and wine which is probably to be expected for the premium location. If you’re still feeling flush after dinner, head to the Mondrian’s Dandelyan bar for a digestif from the World’s Best Cocktail menu!
